The Labour Commissioner of Kerala, by an Order dated 9th October, 2019 has declared that 21st October (the day of poll in connection with the Bye-Election) will be a paid holiday for all employees working in all Private Enterprises, Private Industrial Centres and other Private Institutions covered under the purview of Kerala Shops and Establishments Act, 1960 located in the following areas:
- Manjeshwar
- Ernakulam
- Aroor
- Konni
- Vattiyoorkavu
As it is a paid holiday, there will be no deduction or abatement of wages. Further, the paid holiday will be available to employees as well as casual workers who are ordinary residents of the Constituencies listed above and also to those who are registered electors of the above Constituencies but are serving or employed in an industrial undertaking and / establishment outside the abovementioned Constituencies.
