In a Press Release dated 25th June, 2020 the Ministry of Power (“Ministry”) has informed that the draft proposal for Amendments in Electricity Act 2003 in the form of draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 (“Bill”) has the following broad objectives –
• Ensure consumer centricity
• Promote Ease of Doing Business
• Enhance sustainability of the power sector
• Promote green power
Further, through the Press Release the Ministry has tried to clarify various misconceptions about the Bill.
