FSSAI rolls out FSS (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) First Amendment Regulations, 2020; amends the permissible quantity of metal and crop contaminant in food items; FBOs to comply by 1st July, 2021

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) First Amendment Regulations, 2020 (“Amendment Regulations”) to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011 (“Principal Regulations”).

The Amendment Regulations have gained effect since 14th August, 2020. Food Business Operators (“FBOs”) have to comply to these provisions by 1st July, 2021.
