The Government of Karnataka (State Government) has issued an Order dated October 16, 2020 specifying fresh rates for different COVID-19 tests to be charged by the private laboratories in the State. The present Order is in suppression of all previous orders specifying rates for COVID-19 testing issued by the State Government.
1. The newly specified rates per test are as follows:
a) Sample collection and transportation of Government and private samples to the testing lab – Rs.400/-
b) RT-PCR test for Government referred samples to private labs – Rs.800/-
c) RT-PCR test for privately given samples to private labs when samples are given at labs – Rs.1200/-
d) RT-PCR test for privately given samples to private labs when the samples are collected by the labs at home/residence – Rs.1600/-
e) TRU-NAT test for privately given samples at private labs – Rs.2200/-
f) TRU-NAT test for privately given samples to private labs when the samples are collected by the labs at home/residence – Rs.2600/-
g) CB-NAAT test for privately given samples at private labs – Rs.3800/-
h) CB-NAAT test for privately given samples to private labs when the samples are collected by the labs at home/residence – Rs.4200/-
i) Rapid Antibody Test/ELISA for privately given samples at private labs – Rs.500/-
j) Rapid Antigen Test for privately given samples at private labs – Rs.700/-
2. The ceiling rates fixed includes screening and confirmatory tests as well as the cost of PPE kit. The Order also clarifies that only for RT-PCR test Government samples shall be given to private labs.
3. Such testing can be done only in the ICMR approved laboratories and all other conditions laid down by the ICMR and the State Government shall apply.
