Maharashtra Government implements night curfew in the State from 11 pm to 6 am till 5th January, 2020; issues SOPs for passengers arriving via flights from Europe, South Africa and Middle East countries

The Government of Maharashtra, in continuation to earlier Orders issued under “Mission Begin Again” has implemented night curfew in all Municipal Corporations of the State. Night Curfew has been implemented since 22nd December, 2020 till 5th January, 2020 from 11 pm to 6 am.

This has been done in order to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 virus in the State.

In addition to this, the Government has also issued a Standard Operating Procedure (“SOP”) for passengers arriving in the State via flights from Europe, South Africa and Middle East countries.

Key highlights of the SOP:

1. An area at the far end of the airport terminal should be identified and prepared for receiving the flights from areas of concern;

2. passengers will be screened for symptoms and will be subjected to RT-PCR if passengers are found symptomatic;

3. all other passengers will undergo 14 days of mandatory paid institutional quarantine upon arrival and will not be allowed outside of designated quarantine facility before 14 days under any condition;

4. after completion of 14 days of quarantine, passengers may be discharged only upon testing RT-PCR negative;

5. No one from these flights will be allowed to undergo home quarantine;

6. Institutional quarantine facilities where passengers will stay will have to strictly follow all guidelines and passengers will be monitored daily for development of symptoms by the health team.

7. In case any passenger develops symptoms and is found positive in RT-PCR test, then that passenger will be considered to be infected with the new strain and will be immediately shifted to the designated hospital for treatment.
