CPCB directs Custom Authorities to release import consignments upon submission of an undertaking and proof of application for registration on the EPR portal

Till the E-Waste EPR Portal is fully operational, the Central Pollution Control Board (“CPCB”) has requested the concerned custom authorities to consider clearance of import consignments till 30th June, 2024. However, it has also been mandated that the consignments will only be released post receiving an undertaking in the prescribed format (attached) along with the proof of submission of such undertaking to CPCB at the e-mail ID (ewaste2.cpcb@gov.in).

In view of this, the eligible Producers (including importers) as defined under the E-Waste Management Rules, 2022 have been directed to submit a copy of the online EPR Registration Certificate to the Customs Authority on or before 30th June, 2024.

Background: The E-Waste Management Rules, 2022 (“Rules”) requires Producers of 106 EEE’s, as mentioned in Schedule I of the Rules to register on the CPCB’s E-Waste EPR Portal. However, the portal has been undergoing maintenance and up-gradation from time to time.

A Copy of the Notification is linked below for your ease of reference.
