CDSCO streamlines online application process for registration of cosmetics prior to import; restricts maximum number of products to 50 in single online application effective from 16th August, 2024

With a view to streamline the online filing process for applications related to the mandatory registration of cosmetics prior to import, including post-approval changes, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (“CDSCO”) has introduced new measures. These changes are aimed at facilitating the timely disposal of applications in accordance with the Cosmetics Rules, 2020.

Key Highlights:

  • The number of products which may be included in a single online application is now restricted to a maximum of 50 cosmetics.
  • Applicants are permitted to submit multiple online applications to accommodate additional products.

The above-mentioned restriction will gain effect from 16th August, 2024.
