FSSAI to implement special enforcement drive to curb food adulteration during the festive season; intensifies inspections, mandates border testing and enforces strict monitoring of milk, sweets, and snacks

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has directed implementation of special enforcement drives namely “Holi – Anti – Adulteration Drive – 2025” with a view to check adulteration of milk products, milk, snacks, sweets etc. for the ensuing festive season. Strict monitoring is to be implemented by State / Union Territories and Regional Offices of FSSAI. Enforcement Officials (Designated officers/Food Safety Officer/Central Food Safety Officers) are directed to conduct inspection and sampling in their respective jurisdiction.

Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) and Food Safety Officers are instructed to be employed at entry / exit points at borders, hotspot and other major clusters / markets for on-the-spot testing, enabling immediate enforcement actions against any violations related to food safety and adulteration.

The States / Union Territories are directed to submit a consolidated report by 31st March, 2025 at enforcement1@fssai.gov.in in the format as enclosed in the Notification.
