Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued a Trade Notice No. 14/2015-2020 to inform about the availability of three months’ time period for exporters applying for MEIS benefits for specific shipping bills with ITC HS Codes which were notified under MEIS Appendix 3B after some delay.
Key points of the Trade Notice are:
- For exporters could not apply for MEIS benefits for certain shipping bills because the ITC HS codes mentioned in these shipping bills, were notified under MEIS Appendix 3B after some delay by DGFT server. It is being informed that the Customs Server has now transmitted such shipping bills to the DGFT server, thereby making these shipping bills available for application claims under MEIS.
- Exporters can now take the benefit of the Para 3.15 (a) (ii) of the Handbook of Procedure, 2015-20, which provides three months’ time for filing claims under MEIS from the date of upload of EDI shipping bills onto the DGFT Server by customs.
Therefore, all the exporters with shipping bills with the relevant ITC HS codes ( as specified in the Annexure to the attached notice) are requested to apply for MEIS claim, well within the time window of three months, to avoid any late cut provisions.
