CGWA grants one-time opportunity to existing ground water users to register their ground water withdrawal by 30th June, 2022

In a Public Notice No. 3 /2022 dated 29th June, 2022, the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) has pointed out the need to seek permission for drawing ground water. They have asked all ground water users in the States and Union Territories governed by CGWA (see list below) to seek permission online by 30th June, 2022, if they have not already done so. This is applicable to all ground water users including industrial users (Please refer to the attached public notification available in today’s edition of Times of India for entire list).
Further, as per the Public Notice 2/2022 dated 31.03.2022 issued by the CGWA, such registered users shall be exempted from payment of Environmental Compensation, if they submit complete application before 30.09.2022, failing which Environmental Compensation shall be levied as per CGWA Guidelines. Strict action will be initiated against users who continue to withdraw ground water without seeking the NOC.
