In a Draft Notification dated 16th May, 2018, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”), has proposed an amendment to the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restriction on Sales) Regulations, 2011 (“Principal Regulation”), which is mentioned below;

The draft amendment proposes to add Clause 7 after Clause 6 to the Sub-Regulation 2.3.15 prescribing restriction on using diacetyl as a flavouring substance in oil and fats. |
The FSSAI has invited objections/suggestions from relevant Stakeholders on the proposed amendment within 16th July, 2018. The objections/suggestions shall be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, 3rd Floor, Food and Drug Administration Bhawan, Kotla road, New Delhi – 110002.
