Department of Telecommunications mandates submission of digital-only compliance reports and license modifications through Saral Sanchar Portal, eliminating offline submissions

The Department of Communications (“DoT”) has directed all Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Unified Licensees with ISP Authorization, and Unified Licensees (Virtual Network Operators) with ISP Authorization to transition to a fully digital license lifecycle management and compliance reporting system through the Saral Sanchar Portal.

Key Highlights:

  1. All reports/compliances are required to be filed exclusively through the Saral Sanchar Portal’s reporting module and offline submissions will no longer be accepted;
  2. All requests related to license modifications, including surrender applications, changes in name, address or authorized signatory related changes are required to be submitted through Saral Sanchar Portal only. Offline requests for the same will not be accepted;
  3. All licensees are required to provide prior intimation to the LSA Field Unit concerned, before installing a new node or commencing new services within their authorized service area;
  4. Licensees to ensure intimation is given to both the LSA where the license was issued and the LSA where the new service will be initiated.
