ESIC allows employers to submit documents through e-mail, post and messenger for online registration

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (“ESIC”) has, in an office letter dated 13 January, 2020 informed the authorities that the inspection visits be undertaken only in certain cases. The ESIC while reiterating the points put forward in the previous circular  has informed the employers that they can now submit the documents required in case of late registration to the concerned RO/ SRO through e-mail, post and messenger etc.

Also, In case the employer fails to submit the required documents for verification within the stipulated period, the registration date would be considered as the appointment date and no modifications would be allowed later on.

Background:

Previously, in a Circular dated 3rd December, 2019 the ESIC had informed that employers will be allowed to register employees with the ESIC the system of online registration (“System”), even where the difference between the date of appointment and the date of registration is more than 10 days, subject to the certain conditions:

While registration of employees, where the difference between the date of appointment and the date of registration is more than 10 days, on the System, a pop-up message will be displayed requiring the employer to either accept or reject the conditions of registration of the employee.
