FSSAI advises FBOs to revise/update facility in case of modifications required in Annual Returns; discrepancies in Annual Return to attract penalties

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has directed the concerned licensing authorities to scrutinize the Annual Returns submitted by Food Business Operators (“FBOs”) in their respective jurisdictions.

The FBOs are reminded that pursuant to the Order dated 8th January, 2024 (“Order”) (attached) that the submission of accurate and complete information is mandatory. In cases where correction is required, FBOs are advised to avail the revise/update facility at the earliest as per the timelines and fee structure as prescribed in the Order.

Any misleading or false information will attract penalty under Section 61 of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.
