FSSAI enables instant (Tatkal) issuance of licenses / registration in certain categories such as wholesalers, distributors, retailers, transporters, storage without atmospheric control etc.; step towards Ease of Doing Business

Pursuant to the Update reported earlier (please refer to the email in trail), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has extended the Instant (Tatkal) issuance of License/Registration for specific kind of food businesses nationwide except in the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the States of Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. It has gained effect from 31st August, 2024.

The provisions will be implemented in the States/UT after incorporating State-specific requirements.

The issuance of license will continue to be subject to the conditions and for specific categories such as wholesalers, distributors, retailers, transporters, storage without atmospheric control, importers, food vending agencies, direct sellers, merchant-exporters, pretty retailers of snacks/tea shops and Hawkers (Itinerant/mobile food vendors).
