Government of Kerala rolls out Additional Regulations to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state; to remain in force for a period of 1 year

In a Gazette Notification dated 2nd July, 2020 the Government of Kerala has rolled out the Kerala Epidemic Disease Corona Virus Disease (COVID 19) Additional Regulations, 2020 (“Additional Regulations”).

The Additional Regulations have become effective since 2nd July, 2020 and will remain in force for a period of 1 year unless otherwise notified.

The following precautionary measures have to be strictly implemented:

1. Wearing of face mask/cover-
All persons have to cover their mouth and nose with a face mask in all public places and workplaces

2. Social Distancing-
A social distance of 6 feet has to be maintained.

3. Marriage Function-
The maximum number of persons in a marriage function must not exceed 50. Further, it is mandatory for all persons to use sanitiser, cover face with mask and maintain a social distance of 6 feet.

4. Funeral Functions-
In a funeral, the maximum number of participants at a time must not exceed 20. They should mandatorily wear face mask and use sanitiser.

5. Social Gathering-
No social gathering like get together, procession, dharna, congregation, demonstration etc will be conducted without the written permission of the Authority.

6. Shops and commercial establishments-
In shops and commercial establishments, the maximum number of persons permitted must not be more than 20 at a time depending on the size of the room. They should further maintain a social distancing of 6 feet. All customers must wear a mask/ face cover at all times.

7. Registration on COVID 19 Jagratha e-platform-
All persons intending to visit Kerala have to furnish details as prescribed in the COVID 19 Jagratha e-platform established by the government for contact tracing, ensuring quarantine and other COVID 19 combating measures.

8. Inter-state carriage road and transport-
The regular operation of inter-state carriage road transport from and to Kerala by public and private sectors will remain suspended.

The Additional Regulations further prohibit spitting in public places, road or footpath.
