In view of the increased availability of test kits and reduction in the cost of both RNA extraction kits and RT-PCR Kits, the decrease in the cost of testing, the Health, Medical & Family Welfare (D) Department, Government of Telangana (“Department”) has, through an Order dated 21st December, 2020 revised the maximum rates chargeable for testing (RT-PCR) by private NABL & ICMR approved laboratories in the state as follows:-
- Samples which are collected at the Labs / Hospitals (including all charges – test cost +PPE etc.,) – Rs. 500
- Samples which are collected from home (including all charges – test cost + PPE etc.,) – Rs. 750
Further, all private NABL & ICMR approved labs are instructed to follow the guidelines issued by ICMR from time to time.
All Hospitals / Institutes / Labs are instructed to display the revised tariffs prominently and strictly comply with the above orders. Non-compliance shall attract action as per the provisions of law.
Background:
On 18th November, 2020 the Department had revised the minimum rates chargeable for testing (RT-PCR) by the private NABL & ICMR approved laboratories specifying Rs. 850 for samples which are collected at the Labs/Hospitals and Rs. 1200 for samples collected from home. Now, the rates are being reduced further with the present Order.
