The Labour Department, Government of Tripura proposes to amend the Tripura Shops and Establishments Rules, 1970 (“Principal Rules”) by introducing the Tripura Shops and Establishments (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2019 (“Proposed Amendment”).
The detailed implication of the Proposed Amendment is provided below.

The penalty for contravening any provisions of the Rules has been enhanced.
For first conviction, the fine will be increased from Rs. 100/- to Rs. 200/-.
For continuous offence the fine will be increased from Rs. 25/- per day to Rs. 50/- per day. |

50. Providing of dustbins- Every shop and establishment shall keep and maintain adequate number of dustbin(s) at conspicuous places to ensure hygiene and sanitation is maintained in and around the premises.

The Government of Tripura proposes to take a step ahead to boost the Swachh Bharat mission. A new Rules is proposed to be introduced, mandating all shops / establishments to provide adequate number of dustbins located at conspicuous spaces to ensure hygiene and to set high sanitation standards in the State.
