The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (“Ministry”) has notified amendments to the ‘Footwear made of Leather and other materials (Quality Control) Order, 2020’ (“Order”).
The Order casts obligation on footwear manufacturers to adhere to prescribed Indian Standards while manufacturing footwear from leather or other materials; and ensure that such footwear bears a Standard Mark prescribed under licence obtained from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
With the amendment, the implementation of the above-mentioned has been postponed to 1st July 2021.
