In light of the prevailing situation in Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune caused due to the pandemic, SEEPZ extends “Work From Home” permission till 31st December, 2020 in Maharashtra

The Office of the Development Commissioner Santacruz Electronic Export Processing Zone (“SEEPZ”), Special Economic Zone, through an Order dated 4th September, 2020 has informed that the “Work From Home” permission in terms of *Rule 43 of the Special Economic Zoned Rules, 2006 (“SEZ Rules”) is permitted till 31st December, 2020 in Maharashtra.

Background:

In consonance with the Maharashtra Government’s lockdown Guidelines, the Department has been issuing orders regarding “Work From Home” (“WFH”) as there is no time limit prescribed under Rule 43 of the Rules.

Accordingly, the Specified Officers have also been permitted the clearance of goods.

However, various representations have been received from the Unit Holders as well as Trade Bodies regarding the certainty of the period of WFH so that they can facilitate better planning of their operations. Further, considering the prevailing situation in MMR and Pune caused due to the pandemic COVID 19 the Government of Maharashtra is encouraging working from home.

In light of these, the present extension has been issued.
