MCA extends the timeline to hold AGM for FY 2019-20 till December 31st; grants this relief in view of COVID-19 and to meet the requests of various associations for extending time to hold AGM

In a Press Release dated 8th September, 2020, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) by way of a General order has extended the timeline to hold AGM for FY 2019-20 till December 31st from September 30th.

This relief has been granted by MCA owing to COVID-19 and in light of meeting the demand from various associations for extending time to hold AGM.

With an aim towards implementing this move, the MCA has issued directions to Registrar of Companies(RoCs) to issue orders without filing of formal application and payment of fee. Even applications already filed but not approved or rejected are also covered for this relief.

So far we have been able to locate such extension orders from the RoC Maharashtra and RoC West Bengal (attached for your reference)
