MoEFCC proposes changes to Environment Protection Rules, changes proposed in parameters and standards of pharmaceutical drug manufacturing; objections/suggestions invited till 22nd March, 2020

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, through a notification dated 23rd January, 2020, has brought in draft amendments to the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986 (“Principal Rules”).

Objections or suggestions for the draft amendments may be sent by 23rd March, 2020, to the Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, Jor Bagh Road, New Delhi-110003, or may be sent to the Member Secretary, Central Pollution Control Board and Scientist ‘E’ Ministry at the e-mail address mscb.cpcb@nic.in and h.kharkwal@nic.in.

The draft amendments seeks to make changes in entry 73 in Schedule I of the Principal Rules. Currently the entry is for Pharmaceutical (Manufacturing And Formulation) Industry, the draft proposes to change it to “Bulk Drug and Formulation (Pharmaceutical) Industry”, with other changes in parameters and standards.
