No need for mandatory 14 day quarantine for all major and minor ports in light of COVID-19 pandemic; shipping companies or their agents to make arrangements for RT-PCR for their disembarking crew

The Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways by an Order dated 17th December, 2020 has decided to do away with mandatory 14 day quarantine period as mentioned in the instructions issued earlier to all major and minor ports in light of COVID-19 pandemic.

If any of the crew member of vessel that has not completed 14 days from the last port of call will be required to disembark from the vessel and the following will have to be complied with in addition to the requirements as specified in the SOP issued by the Directorate from time to time –

1. The shipping companies or their agents will make arrangements for RT-PCR testing of all such crew disembarking from such vessels in coordination with concerned port & health authorities.

2. The crew members should be COVID-19 negative by RT-PCR before disembarking.

3. Such crew member will agree to self-monitor their health and report to relevant authorities if suffering from any COVID-19 symptoms or signs.

4. The crew member to comply by the guidelines on physical distancing, hand hygiene and use of masks along with minimizing their contact with the general public.

All other instructions as specified under the previous Order will be continue to be applicable.
