In a Notification dated 12th March, 2020 the Department of Energy, Odisha (“Department”) has informed the exemption of payment of electricity duty granted on consumption of electricity energy supplied by DISCOM Utility or generated through captive power plants including generating sets to the premises setup under SEZ Policy, 2015 (“Policy”) .
The procedure to be adopted by Developer/co-developer and SEZ units for availing the exemption are mentioned below:
- Applicant unit must send a photocopy of the letter to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as a proof of validity/extension period of the approval granted under the Policy to the concerned Chief Engineer/Electrical inspector.
- On receipt of the SEZ certificate the concerned Engineer/Chief Engineer will sanction the exemption and intimate the same to the Executive Engineer as per Annexure 7.
Thereafter, the Engineer has to keep the accounts of exemption for each financial year and must maintain the record of the quantum of benefit extended under the Policy.
