DPCC withdraws ban on operation of electricity generator sets run on diesel / petrol / kerosene in Delhi NCR since 5th March, 2021

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (“DPCC”) has withdrawn the earlier direction w.r.t prohibition of operation of electricity generator sets run on diesel / petrol / kerosene in NCT of Delhi.

Background:

After considering the advise of the Task Force on Graded Response Action Plan (“GRAP”), EPCA had banned the use of Diesel Generator sets (other than essential/emergency services) in Delhi and in the vicinity towns i.e. Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad and Gurugram since 15th October, 2020 .

Now, as per the forecast and prediction received by Central Pollution Control Board (“CPCB”) air quality in Delhi is expected to be better in the coming days due to improved ventilation conditions.

In light of the above-mentioned, CPCB has notified the lifting of ban on Diesel Generator Sets in the NCT of Delhi with effect from 5th March, 2021.

The earlier Notification dated 13th October, 2020 is revoked with immediate effect.
