In light of the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2019, as reported in the trail mail, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has issued a Clarification, dated 15th November, 2019, on the rate of stipend to be paid to National Trade Certificate (NTC) holders under apprenticeship training.
The rates of stipend have been fixed as follows:
- For any trade curricula under the apprenticeship training prescribing the entry qualification as NTC/STC, the apprentice should be paid
- Rs. 7000 during 1st year of training
- Rs. 7700 during 2nd year of training
iii. Rs. 8050 during 3rd year of training
In case of course duration of 15 months, where basic training is for 3 months and on the job training (“OJT”) is for the remaining 12 months, apprentices are required to be paid 50% of the base stipend i.e. Rs 3500 [50% of Rs. 7000 (the minimum rate of stipend)] during the 3 months period of basic training and Rs. 7000 during the remaining 12 months of OJT.
- For any trade curricula under the Apprenticeship training prescribing the entry qualification as NTC and also includes exemption year of 1 year for the apprentices training, the apprentice has to be paid Rs. 7700 in the second year of apprenticeship training and Rs. 8050 during the third year.
- For any trade curricula under the Apprenticeship training prescribing the entry qualification as NTC and also includes exemption of 2 years for the apprentices training, the apprentice has to be paid Rs. 8050 during the third year of apprenticeship training.
