The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has, in an Order dated 31st July, 2020, extended the grace period for Food Business Operators (“FBOs”), whose license/registration has expired/is expiring between 22nd March, 2020 to 31st July, 2020, to apply for renewal of FBO licence/registration without any late fee from 31st July, 2020 till 31st December, 2020.
FSSAI has also informed that such relaxation will also be applicable to FBOs, whose license/registration has expired/is expiring between 1st August, 2020 till 31st December, 2020.
FSSAI has clarified that this Order will be effective prospectively; and no claim for refund of late fee paid for already applied renewal applications will admissible. All such FSSAI license/registrations will be deemed to be valid in the interim period.
