The Code on Wages, 2019 had received the President’s assent on 8th August, 2020 and as we had earlier reported the provisions of the Code will come into force on a date which the Central Government may by way of a commencement notification appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions.
Now, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (“Ministry”) has fixed 18th December, 2020 as the date on which the following provisions of the Code on Wages, 2019 (“Code”) is gaining effect:
The Ministry has now notified provisions relating to the Central Advisory Board and its constitution and the power of the Government to make rules regarding the Central Advisory Board and has further notified the “repeal and savings” provision of the Code to the extent that the provisions relating to the Advisory Board and Central Advisory Board of the Minimum Wages Act is repealed.
Currently we are awaiting subsequent notification for notifying the other provisions from which compliances may emanate.
