Karnataka Govt. withdraws Order dated 23.12.2020 imposing night curfew in the state from 24.12.2020 to 1.1.2021

In an Order dated 23rd December, 2020 the Government of Karnataka (“Government”) had imposed night curfew from 11.00 pm to 5.00 am from 24th December, 2020 until 1st January, 2021. The step was taken in view of the detection of a new variant of the SARS – CoV2 Virus in the United Kingdom. Returnees from the UK to the State of Karnataka have tested positive and further testing is in process to check if a new variant has been contracted by these persons. In light of these developments, the Government had felt that there was a need to take additional and more stringent measures and accordingly the curfew Order was issued.

However, in a recent update on the twitter handle of the Karnataka Chief Minister, it has been informed that the night curfew Order has now been withdrawn. It is advised that crowds be avoided and people exercise caution while celebrating Christmas and New Year’s and follow the various government Regulations.
