The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has extended the last date for submission of Annual Return by manufacturers and importers of food products till 30th June, 2024. This is in view of the issues faced by users at the time of submitting the Annual Return on Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) portal owing to heavy user traffic.
In this context, reference is drawn to Clause 2.1.3 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011 which requires licensed manufacturers and importers of food products to submit an Annual Return by 31st May of every year in respect of each class of food products handled by them during the previous financial year.
FSSAI has further reiterated that only online mode of submission of Annual Return through FoSCoS dashboard [http://foscos.fssai.gov.in] will be accepted, taking reference from the order issued by FSSAI on 18th December, 2020 whereby online submission of annual returns on FoSCos system was made mandatory for food businesses involved in manufacturing and importing of food products.
