Actions under Stage-II (‘Very Poor’ Air Quality) of revised GRAP invoked by CAQM in Delhi-NCR region with immediate effect

In continuation to what we reported earlier (please refer to e-mails in trail), the Commission for Air Quality Management (“CAQM”) in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas has directed implementation of actions under Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (“GRAP”) – ‘Very Poor’ Air Quality (Delhi AQI ranging between 301-400) with immediate effect. This has been done in an effort to prevent further deterioration of the air quality.

All agencies concerned in the NCR and citizens have been directed to adhere to the following to ensure and assist in effective implementation of the GRAP measures:

  • Carry out mechanical/ vacuum sweeping and water sprinkling of the identified roads on a daily basis;
  • Intensify inspections for strict enforcement of dust. control measures at Construction and Demolition sites;
  • Strictly implement the Schedule for regulated operations of DG sets across all sectors in the NCR including Industrial, Commercial, Residential, etc.;
  • Ensure uninterrupted power supply to discourage use of alternate power Generating sets/equipment;
  • Avoid dust generating construction activities during months of October to January;
  • Use public transport and minimize use of personal vehicles;
  • Avoid open burning of solid waste and bio-mass, etc.
