All implantable medical devices, CT scan / MRI equipment’s / X-ray machines / Dialysis machines will be considered as ‘Drugs’ with effect from 1st April, 2020

This is a quick update to let you know that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (“Ministry”) has notified the list of devices intended for use in human beings as drugs in line with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

Effective 1^st April, 2020 the following devices will be considered to be ‘drugs’:

1) All implantable Medical Devices

2) CT scan equipment

3) MRI equipment

4) Defibrillators

5) Dialysis machine

6) PET equipment

7) X-Ray machine

8) Bone marrow cell separator
