Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation introduces a special drive and awareness programme to persuade establishments employing International Workers to submit monthly IW-1 returns online

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (“EPFO”) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has, in a letter dated 28th November, 2018 issued to all Regional Provident Fund Commissioners (in charge of Regions) and All Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioners (Zonal Office) directed them to conduct a special drive and awareness programme to induce establishments covered under their respective jurisdiction to submit monthly IW-1 returns online through the International Workers Portal on the EPFO website www.epfindia.gov.in.

This directive comes in the wake of the fact that even though the facility for online submission of IW-1 returns by employers was made available since 1st November, 2018, it was observed that such returns were not being submitted online by the employers of establishments employing “International Workers”.

Further, all Regional Provident Fund Commissioners (in charge of Regions) and Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioners (Zonal Office) have been asked to submit to the EPFO, Action Taken Report with regard to the aforementioned direction for conducting special drive and awareness programme.
