FSSAI revises format for maintaining record of disposal and collection of used cooking oil; applicable to Food Business Operators consuming more than 50 litres of edible oil per day; effective immediately

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has revised the format for recording disposal and collection of Used Cooking Oil (“UCO”), effective immediately. All Food Business Operators (“FBOs”) whose consumption of edible oils and fats for frying is more than 50 litres per day are required to regularly maintain the record of UCO disposal in the format provided below before disposing the used cooking oil to FSSAI authorized agencies (such as manufactures of biodiesel, soap, lubricant, candles, etc.)

*Further, FSSAI has prescribed that the Total Polar Compound (TPC) of edible oil or fat should be more than 25% in UCO.
