Govt amends the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995; members availing pension on/before 25.09.2008 will be restored with normal pension after completion of 15 years from commutation

This is a quick update to let you know that in a Gazette Notification dated 20th February, 2020 the Ministry of Labour And Employment (“Ministry”) has issued the Employees’ Pension (Amendment) Scheme, 2020 (“Amendment”) informing that those members who availed the benefit of commutation of pension on or before 25th September, 2008, will be restored with normal pension after completion of a period of 15 years from the date of such commutation of pension.

The Amendment has become effective on 20th February, 2020 i.e. on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The Amendment inserts Para 12B to Paragraph 12 of the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 which deals with Monthly Member’s Pension.
