In one of its move towards ease of doing business, and promoting the ‘Digital India’ concept, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (“Ministry”) has launched an Online Registration process through the Shram Suvidha Portal and has proposed the amendment of Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Central Rules,1980.
The Ministry has temporarily rolled out the draft of Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Central (Amendment) Rules, 2018.
Key highlights of the amendment are:
- Application for registration is to be made through the Shram Suvidha Portal and registration fee is to be paid online.
- The applicant will receive an automated acknowledgment electronically on the web portal itself.
- Certificate of registration will be generated electronically on the web portal itself.
- Any change in particulars specified in the certificate of registration, relating to any establishment can be intimated on the web portal itself within thirty days from the date when such change takes place.
Similar online procedures with the same implications are followed for getting a License as well on these lines:
- Application for license has to be submitted online on the Shram Suvidha Portal of the Ministry of Labour and any fee or security deposit has to be made by e-payment.
- Any acknowledgement or information relating to application of license and payment of any fee or security deposit will be generated electronically on the Portal.
- The license will be generated online on the Portal itself.
