With a view to enable Ease of Doing Business, the Labour Department, Government of Gujarat, has allowed digitization of labour related records and encouraged industrial units and establishments to maintain online records of all Labour related documents. The register and records needs to be maintained electronically as mentioned in Labour Laws.
As per the provisions under the Central Labour Legislations and State rules , it has encouraged digitization of registers and other related documents in order to achieve efficiency and smooth functioning of the working environment. Section 4 of The Information and Technology Act, 2000 also allows maintenance of registers in electronic format.

Section 4. Legal recognition of electronic records.—Where any law provides that information or any other matter shall be in writing or in the typewritten or printed form, then, notwithstanding anything contained in such law, such requirement shall be deemed to have been satisfied if such information or matter is– (a) rendered or made available in an electronic form; and (b) accessible so as to be usable for a subsequent reference
