Maharashtra Pollution Control Board reiterates on the prohibition of manufacture, trade, use, import or export of certain Persistent Organic Pollutants.

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (“Board”) has, by a Circular dated 16th March 2019, endorsed the decision of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (“Ministry”), to prohibit the manufacture, trade, use, import or export of the Persistent Organic Pollutants by any industry.

The Board has further reiterated that industries are required to comply with this Circular and submit a declaration in Form-1 to the Hazardous Substances Management Division (“HSMD”) of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Paryavaran Bhawan CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi – 110003, within a period of three months from the date of issuance of the Circular.
