The Ministry of Labour & Employment, has issued the Code on Wages (Central) Rules, 2019 (“Draft Rules”), which is a Preliminary Draft of the Code on Wages, 2019 (“Code”).
The Draft Rules proposes to repeal the following Central Rules (indicated in red) under the enactments repealed by the Code:
- Payment of Wages Act, 1936 read with Payment of Wages (Procedure) Rules, 1937
- Minimum Wages Act, 1948 read with Minimum Wages (Central) Rules 1950
- Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 read with Payment of Bonus Rules, 1965
- Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 read with Equal Remuneration Rules, 1976
