The Ministry of New & Renewable energy has issued an Office Memorandum stating certain specifications for Solar street lights and Solar study lamps procured under off grid and decentralized Solar PV Applications programme of the Ministry. The present specifications for these applications provide usage of Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP). The Ministry in this new memorandum has decided to specify minimum performance parameters for batteries to be used for Solar street lights and solar study lamps in place of specifying LFP , and accordingly all Lithium based batteries shall be used for Solar street lights and Solar Study lamps.
