The Ministry of Steel, through a notification in the official gazette, dated 19^th February, 2020, has brought in the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 (“Order”), specifying standards for steel and steel products.

The Order will come into effect in a phased manner –

1. The specified standards for the first 53 items mentioned in the table will come into effect immediately from the 19^th February, 2020,
2. For items mentioned from serial numbers 54 to 66, the specified standards will come into effect from 23^rd April, 2020.
3. For items from serial number 67 to 91, the standards will come into effect from 19^th November, 2020 i.e 9 months from date of publication of this order.
4. The standards in relation to Stampings/ laminations/ cores of transformers (with or without winding) will come into effect from 16^th March, 2020.
