MoRTH provides further extension to validity of Fitness, Permits, Licenses, Registration and other documents related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 till 31st December, 2020

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (“Ministry”) has extended the validity of Fitness certificates, all types of Permits, Licenses, Registration or any other documents (under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989) till 31st December 2020. All such documents whose extension of validity could not be granted due to lock-down and had expired since 1st February, 2020 or would expire by 31st December 2020 will be treated as valid till 31st of December 2020.

This is being done to help out the citizens in availing transport related services in the country during the pandemic. The Government by earlier Orders dated 30th March, 2020 and 9th June, 2020 had extended the validity of all kinds of documents related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 till 30th June, 2020 and 30th September, 2020.
