The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (“PESO”) has issued an Order mandating that all manufacturers and importers of Ammonium Nitrate comply with Rule 9 of the Ammonium Nitrate Rules, 2012. This Rule requires the implementation of barcoding on Ammonium Nitrate bags for tracking purposes and mandates the uploading of data into the ANRS system via barcode readers. This measure aims to digitize the transaction process and enhance tracking to prevent pilferage, thereby bolstering national security and public safety.
This Order results from extensive consultations with various stakeholders concerning the digitization of the entire Ammonium Nitrate transaction process.
