Punjab Health Department notifies conditions for conducting RTPCR COVID-19 test in private laboratories; caps maximum rate of RTPCR test at ₹ 2400/-

The Health Department of Punjab has directed all private laboratories not to charge more than ₹ 2400 /- for conducting RT-PCR test for COVID-19 (inclusive of GST/Taxes and cost involved in pick up, packing and transportation of samples, documentation and reporting) in the State of Punjab.

The following conditions have also been notified with regard to COVID-19 tests conducted by private laboratories:

1. adhere to all testing protocols laid down by ICMR and Government of India;

2. share data pertaining to COVID-19 test results with ICMR and State Government on a real time basis through ICMR portal;

3. note down the identification, address and verified mobile number of the person being tested for record as per Sample Referral Form (SRF). Upload the recorded data on the RT-PCR app at the time of taking the sample. Also, the test report to be communicated to the patient immediately after completion of testing;

4. positive test report to be immediately communicated to the Civil Surgeon of the concerned district through e-mail;

5. NABL and IMCR approved private laboratories to maintain utmost confidentiality with regard to information of patients;

6. data generated by the RT-PCR machine to be preserved for future verification by the State Government.
