The State Executive Committee of State Disaster Management Authority, Chandigarh by an Order dated 31st July, 2020 has issued orders / guidelines that will remain in force upto 31st August, 2020 in the entire Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The following directions are issued for containing the spread of COVID-19 in the city –
- Sukhna Lake will remain closed on weekends. Entry of all visitors will remain banned on Saturdays and Sundays.
- Odd-even system in certain specific congested markets will be re-introduced from time to time as per recommendations of the Committee.
- All markets will close by 8 PM, except for the eating establishments, which can remain open till 9 PM. However, the exemption to essential shops such as medicine shops etc. will continue.
- The curfew period from 10 PM to 5 AM will continue.
Any violation will be punishable under provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 apart from action under Section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions.
