In a recent Office Memorandum dated 19th November, 2018, issued by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, it has been stated that the revised ceiling rates for the reimbursement of cost of cardiac pacemaker, AICD, Combo device, Rotablator and Aortic Stent Graft for the beneficiaries of Central Government Health Scheme / Central Services (Medical Attendance) (“CGHS /MA”) Rules will be effective from 8th November, 2018.
Background
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (“Ministry”) had issued an Office Memorandum dated 22nd July, 2014 which established the ceiling rates for reimbursement of cost Cardiac Pacemaker, AICD, Combo device, Rotablator and Aortic Stent Graft to the beneficiaries of CGHS / MA Rules. Further to this, an Office Memorandum dated 6th August, 2018 was issued by the Ministry which revised the ceiling rate for reimbursement of the cost of Cardiac Pacemaker, AICD, Combo device, Rotablator and Aortic Stent Graft for the beneficiaries of CGHS / MA Rules.
The revised ceiling prices for the cost of cardiac pacemaker, AICD, Combo device, Rotablator and Aortic Stent Graft are applicable to all Hospitals empanelled with the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme. It has also been stated that the other terms and conditions prescribed under the Office Memorandum dated 22.07.2014 will remain unchanged until further notification is issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (“NPPA”).
