The Office of the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and Profession Tax, West Bengal (“Office”) has, in an Order dated 30th April, 2019, informed that the last date of filing the quarterly return (“Return”), showing the salaries and wages paid by him and the amount of tax deducted by him in respect thereof, under section 6 of the West Bengal State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1979 (“Act”), for the year ending on the 31st day of March, 2019, has been extended.
The last date for filing the Return in Form – III under the Act has been extended as follows:
Last date of transmission of data electronically of that Return: 10th May, 2019
Last date of furnishing paper form of that Return: 17th May, 2019
The Office has also informed that last date of payment of tax and interest, if any, payable according to such Return is 30th April, 2019.
The Office has clarified that the late fees in respect of such Return shall be determined by the process specified under the West Bengal State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Rules, 1979.
