Chandigarh Govt directs a ban on “Plastic Sachets with packaging capacity of 30 ml and less, effective 28.12.2019, through a partial modification on the existing plastic ban notification

The Department of Environment, Chandigarh (“Department”) has, through a Gazette Notification dated 30th January 2020 (“Notification”), made partial modification of the Notification dated 27th September 2019.

The Notification directs that for the items mentioned at Serial Nos.12, 13, 14 & 15, the complete ban has become effective 28th December 2019. However, the items mentioned at Serial No.16, 17 and 18 shall be banned with effect from 28th March 2020. There has been a change in Item no. 14 as indicated below and its ban is effective 28th December 2019.

*Note: The Notification also states that at Serial No.14, plastic sachets with packaging capacity of “50 ml/gm. or less” shall be read as “30ml or less” with effect from 28.12.2019.
