In a recent notice issued by the District Women and Child Development Officer, Mumbai City, it has been clarified that it will only receive internal committee formation details from establishments which fall under Mumbai City District Area (Colaba to Mahim, Sion only). The clarification has been issued pursuant to the order issued by the Women & Child Development Department Mumbai City Collectorate, requiring employers of workplaces in the District of Mumbai City employing 10 or more employees to report details of constitution of their Internal Committee under Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
This notice also clarifies that establishments which are situated in areas other than Mumbai City District i.e. establishments which have their offices in Mumbai sub-urban, Thane, New Mumbai should not send the internal committee formation letter to the Mumbai City District Office unless a proper government official letter has been sent by the concerned District Officer, Deputy Collector, Collector Office or District Child and Women Development Office to inform such details.
