EPFO allows residents of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland to get UAN generated without using Aadhaar for the period 24.08.2018 to 23.11.2018

In a recent Circular dated August 29, 2018, the Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation (“EPFO”) has informed that residents of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland can have their UAN generated without using Aadhaar. This facility is initially allowed for a period of 3 months from August 24, 2018 to November 23, 2018.

Background:

Realizing that the penetration of Aadhaar is low in the States of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland and upon considering several requests from employers, the EPFO has proactively allowed generating UAN without Aadhaar for these States for a period of  3 months from August 24, 2018 to November 11, 2018.

To avail the facility the following  instructions given below must be followed:

Go to www.epfindia.gov.in >> ECR/Return/Payment >> Establishment Sign in >> Member >> REGISTER-INDIVIDUAL

Employer must tick the checkbox after the remark “Member is from Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland”.
